Fala Aí, (pronounced fah-lah-ee) the magazine of the Portuguese program at the University of Georgia, is a bilingual, multimedia, award-winning, student-run magazine about Lusophone cultures and the Portuguese language.
With content that is created collaboratively among people in Portuguese-speaking countries and the United States, our goal is to inform those interested in the Portuguese language as well as in the cultures of the regions in which it is spoken. We strive to bring Lusophone cultures together, and spread their expressions. As a digital and printed media and news platform, we offer Brazilian students, as well as students learning the Portuguese language, a space to express themselves and practice their skills.
In Portuguese, the informal expression “Fala Aí” could be freely translated into English as “speak up.” It is generally used in a friendly manner among people when they want someone else to add their contribution to the conversation. And that is exactly what Fala Aí magazine is: a space in which the UGA Brazilian community and friends take part through student advocacy and protagonism.
