Students develop their Italian language skills through immersive lessons, conversations with native speakers, and cultural activities. Students will gain an historical, geographical ,and cultural immersion into the city of Rome —from its ancient and mythical origins to today's global capital—through daily faculty-led visits to historic sites in Rome. An excursion to the Amalfi Coast region (Sorrento, Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius) will provide a glimpse of Italy's natural beauty and an appreciation of its geographical and cultural diversity. Students can elect to extend their experience in Rome with an add-on internship component (June 21 to July 19, 2027) that provides professional experience with Italian organizations, further enhancing students' linguistic proficiency, intercultural competence, and understanding of Italian professional culture. APPLY Italian Language and Culture in Rome LEARN MORE Add-on Summer Internships in Rome English for Everybody in Brescia Internship UGA students of Italian are eligible to apply for positions as English Language Assistants throughout the province of Brescia, Lombardy, through a partnership with English for Everybody, a network of local public schools. Assistants primarily support teachers during English lessons, and may also be asked to prepare English‑language lessons on additional subjects such as history or geography. Participants will be introduced to Italian teaching practices for reading and writing, including the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology.
