Online Teaching of Foreign Language and Culture Classes

The unexpected challenge of teaching foreign language and culture classes online at UGA in late spring and summer 2020 has catapulted our community into an exciting, albeit at times exhausting, few months of innovative experimentation with online teaching. As we prepare to teach our fall semester partially, or, in some cases, possibly fully online, this online morning colloquium offers an opportunity to share the collective wisdom and questions we all gathered during this productive time. This online colloquium (through zoom) is not meant to replace the already rich training offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning, but to complement it with a conversation about the best practices that emerged from your experience teaching foreign culture and languages online since the pandemic. Please consider giving a 20-minute informal presentation on your experience teaching a class online at UGA, be it this last spring and summer, or prior to, so we can all benefit from what worked for you and the questions that drive your pedagogy in this challenging and innovative time.

The colloquium will take place on Friday August 7, 8 a.m.- 12 p.m. on zoom.

To participate in a panel, send a brief description of the online class(es) you taught and what pedagogical points you will highlight from it to Jonathan Baillehache at baille@uga.edu before Friday July 31.
