“Hiroshima Mon Amour” (1959) was written by Marguerite Duras and directed by Alain Resnais. A co-production between France and Japan, it documents a series of intensely personal conversations between an unnamed French actress and a Japanese architect interspersed with flashbacks. It is considered a hallmark film of the French New Wave. NR, 90 min.

With an introduction by Richard Neupert, Charles H. Wheatley Professor of the Arts in the University of Georgia department of theatre and film studies. Dr. Neupert teaches film history and theory, and his special areas of interest are French cinema, narrative theory and animation.
