WELCOME In the Department of Romance Languages over 1500 undergraduate majors and minors are currently enrolled in our small interactive classes, becoming bilingual readers, writers, and researchers with expanded world views. Students in Romance Languages gain the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, for effective intercultural communication while gaining fluency in French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish through real world experience. Undergrads, Faculty, and Graduate Students at Our Annual Book Launch STUDY ABROAD & EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING The Department of Romance Languages provides academically rigorous study abroad experiential learning programs that include immersion in the language of the host country. Students develop independent research skills in capstone courses or through research projects, increase their intercultural competence in study abroad and related international experiences, gain first-hand knowledge of different work environments in internships, and learn to appreciate and contribute to the social or educational work of others through service or community-based learning.
