Teaching Assistant of Portuguese & Spanish

PhD Student and Teaching Assistant of Portuguese/Spanish at University of Georgia, Michel Soares do Carmo holds a M.A. in Linguistics and a B.A. in Languages and Literatures with a concentration in Portuguese, both from Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). He has extensive experience in teaching through different levels (middle and high school; university; adult education) and ages (from 12 to 71). Right before starting his PhD Studies, he was a awarded a Fulbright Fellowship as Teaching Assistant of Portuguese as a Foreign Language at University Notre Dame, IN, United States, through the FLTA/Fulbright Program (2021/2022). He also has experience/training in teaching and/or researching following subjects/topics: Portuguese/English, Pragmatics, Metapragmatics, Linguistics, Language Ideologies, Afro-Brazilian Literatures, Digital Ethnography, Text Proofreading/Revision/Editing, Development of Social/Cultural Projects. His main research interests revolve around decolonial dialogues and re-articulations of identity, language and knowledge.

Research Interests:

Amefrican Literatures, Afro-Brazilian Literatures, Digital Ethnography, Pragmatics, Metapragmatics, Linguistics, Linguistic Ideologies.
