A Romance Languages AB degree allows you to achieve proficiency in a combination of any two Romance languages. Choose two from French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish.

If you grew up speaking another language, or arrive at UGA with AP credit, becoming trilingual is within your reach.

You've heard of Spanglish, how about Portuñol? Enter the exclusive contact zones between languages and insight into cultural interfaces where English cannot go. 

Your ability to understand code-switching, mixed, and hybrid speech will be a credible edge, based on linguistic knowledge in the real world.

Esteban Lazaro, UGA '26, Triple Major in French, Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and minor in Latinx Studies, was offered a summer Graduate Intern position for UGA's New Student Orientation upon graduation. Celebrated as a Top 100 Student Employee, he will pursue an MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Boston College. Read more.

Grace St. Urbain, UGA '20, A.B. in Romance Languages—Spanish and French, is J.D. Graduate from UMass School of Law. Global internship or research capstone funding

New for 2026-2027, the Hellerstein Romance Immersive Fund, endowed by Professor Emerita Nina Hellerstein, provides global internship or research capstone funding of $2,000 per undergraduate major. 10 awards per year. Contact department head, Dr. Dana Bultman dbultman@uga.edu to apply. You must be a major in Romance Languages, French, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish to be eligible.
