Bateman PhD defense news

Congratulations to Bethany Bateman on the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation. Bethany’s dissertation, entitled “Contact-induced subjectivization in the compound past: an examination of PP/PRET variation in Cusco Spanish,” examines past reference among monolingual and bilingual speakers of Andean Spanish in Cusco, Peru. The committee was impressed with the clarity of Bethany’s research and the important implications it presents for our understanding of contact-induced language change. We look forward to hearing much more as this exciting research agenda evolves.

¡Felicidades, Bethany!
