On April 5th, 2025, Dr. Cecília Rodrigues received 2nd place in the poetry category of the Rachel de Queiroz Award during the XV Ceará International Biennial Book Fair, held at the Ceará Convention Center in Fortaleza. The award recognized Dr. Rodrigues for her poem "Flecheiras," published in the poetry anthology Sol das Letras, by Sol Literário Press.
Named after a coastal village in the Northeast of Brazil, “Flecheiras” is an Indigenous word meaning arrow shooting warrior women. The poem reflects upon the fluidity of life, using the ever-moving sea as a metaphor for existence. It captures the vibrancy of life in a unique land — one defined by rolling dunes and monstrous wind turbines, where nature’s relentless forces mirror the human spirit’s resilience. The poetic voice brings a distinct vision of this landscape, blending the beauty of the natural world and a gendered perspective.
The XV Ceará International Biennial Book Fair, taking place from April 4th to 13th, 2025, is one of the Brazil’s most prominent literary events, drawing together writers, readers, publishers, and literary professionals. This year’s event stands out not only for its literary acclaim, but also for its thought-provoking theme: “From the Fires to the Fire of Words: Women, Resistance, and Literature.” The theme focuses on the role of women in literature, emphasizing their resilience throughout history and their transformative impact on society through the written word.  (Website)
